The Concrete Centre @ FutureBuild 19
The Concrete Centre will be exhibiting at this year's Futurebuild event, taking place at ExCel London on 5th – 7th March 2019. The Concrete Centre stand will be in the Materials hub ( E80 & E81) and will offer a wealth of expert advice and practical demonstrations showing the many ways in which designers can use concrete and masonry construction to achieve sustainability, performance and aesthetic goals.
The Concrete Centre stand will feature:
Our built environment is shaped by the changing needs of society. Construction materials play a part in ensuring that our buildings, meet our current needs and are fit for the future: resilient to climate change, low carbon, material efficient and robust and secure. This series of presentations organised by The Concrete Centre will provide insights into how concrete and masonry can enable designers to meet these challenges.
- Tuesday 5th March - Innovations in Concrete
This session will explore a range of innovations and new technology being applied to materials, production, logistics, construction and re-use in the concrete sector including Offsite construction.
Session chaired by: Elaine Toogood, Senior Architect, The Concrete Centre
Wednesday 6th March - Circular Economy of Concrete
This session will provide guidance on best practice in material efficiency, exploring reducing embedded materials, designing for re-use and recycling at end-of-life.
Session chaired by: Guy Thompson, Head of Architecture, Housing and Sustainability, The Concrete Centre
Thursday 7th March - Fit for the Future
This session will explore how structural materials play a part in ensuring that our buildings are fit for the future: resilient to climate change, low carbon, material efficient, robust, secure and built to last.
Session chaired by: Jenny Burridge, Head of Structural Engineering, The Concrete Centre
