Concrete buildings must be designed for movements due to early-age contractions, creep, drying shrinkage, and temperature. Delegates will be taught the types and sources of movement, the importance of restraints to movement, and design to accommodate or mitigate movements. The material will be aligned with relevant Eurocodes and UK National Annexes. Delegates will carry out a calculation for linear horizontal contraction and expansion using a multi-storey car park as a case study.
