One Pancras Square, London

Project team

Client:Argent

Architect:David Chipperfield Architects

Structural Engineer:Adams Kara Taylor/BAM Design

Main Contractor:BAM UK

Date of completion:2013

This eight-storey building houses shops, cafes and office space and is formed from an in-situ concrete frame that features materially efficient post-tensioned concrete slabs and precast concrete facades.

The exposed concrete soffits and precast concrete spandrels add to the aesthetics of the building, but a stand out feature is the concrete and black marble ceiling in Gridiron’s reception.

The inherent thermal mass properties of concrete have been used by the designers to create a building that is so low-energy that it was awarded the BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating.

One Pancras Square is a London National RIBA Award Winner 2014.
