Design Concrete competition winners 2024

Design Concrete is a national student competition which encourages architecture students to explore the benefits of designing sustainably with concrete. The competition has been developed to fit within, or complement, the syllabus of an undergraduate degree course in Architecture.

The 2024 competition challenge was to design a sustainable concrete artist’s studio, studios and /or exhibition spaces within a restored quarry site. Students were tasked with demonstrating an understanding of how concrete can be used to reduce whole life carbon, provide climate change resilience and support a more circular economy

The judging panel reviewed many excellent submissions and wish to say a huge thank you to all of the universities who took part and to the students who submitted their work.

The shortlisted and winning submissions were announced at The Concrete Centre’s Next Generation Concrete event on the 18th June 2024 at The Zaha Hadid Foundation.
