This publication covers a comprehensive and independent cost study which was undertaken to provide a comparison between six structural frame options for a typical secondary school. Budget costings were assigned to all elements of construction and adjustments were made to reflect timerelated costs attributable to differences in the construction programme. There was a relatively small cost variation between the options, however the study highlighted the extent to which elements other than structure can be affected by the frame material chosen.
