Generic ready-mixed concrete EPD

This EPD was produced in August 2018 to EN 15804 product category rules, with independent verification carried out externally. It uses manufacturing data covering 93% of production from member companies of the British Ready-Mixed Concrete Association. The system boundary is from Cradle to Gate (A1-C4 inclusive) with all options declared. The concrete’s secondary life (Module D) is outside the scope of this EPD.

The declared unit for this EPD is 1m3 of generic ready-mixed C30/37 concrete suitable for nearly all foundations, floors and the majority of building structures made of concrete. It comprises 310 kg of cementitious material, 1915 kg of natural aggregate, 137 litres of mains water, 2 litres of recycled water and 1.6 litres of chemical admixture.

The cementitious content comprises 200kg of Portland cement (CEM I), 95kg of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and 15kg of fly ash. These values represent a generic factory produced ready-mixed concrete.
