The use and manufacture of concrete is evolving, with numerous new technologies, mixes and designs currently in development. This Concrete Futures event showcases innovation representing some of the major areas of focus including 3d printing, design for disassembly and alternative raw materials for achieving more circular, lower carbon solutions.

Presenters include:

  • Shajay Bhooshan from Zaha Hadid Architects presenting Striatus, a 3d printed concrete bridge designed without the need for reinforcement, mortar or steel connections
  • Andy Coward, founder of Net Zero Projects and minimassTM presenting low carbon, low cost, 3D-printed structural beams
  • Tessa Peerless from Material Evolution presenting alkali-fusion technology to leverage waste feedstocks and produce carbon neutral cement

The evening will feature insightful talks and a panel discussion with the speakers. This will be followed by the presentation of awards to the winners of The Concrete Centre’s Design and Sustainability Student Competition, and networking over drinks.
